Today my boys took me out to lunch for my birthday (I got stuck with the bill though- humph). It was my pick so I chose one of our local chinese restaurants (they have a fabulous buffet). They were playing that classic "elevator music" which I hadn't even noticed until Bradley looked up at me and said, "They really should be playing Chinese music in here." Haha! I thought that was so funny coming from a 5 year old boy! I love Bradley!
I can't believe I'm 29! I remember my 13 birthday party like it was yesterday. And now I am more than twice that age! AHH! Unbelievable! Really, really unbelievable! My goal for this year is to lose weight and to be 130 lbs. (or less) by my 30th birthday! Yay! Hopefully I can conquer my weaknesses and tackle this problem before it gets even more out of control. No more eating dinner like it's the last meal I'll ever eat and no more late night snacks. I can do it, right? It's just food...
Speaking of being older, I hate looking younger than I really am. I am embarrassed all the time. Like the time I went to the store to buy Nyquil for my super sick husband of almost nine years (at the time) and the woman at the register carded me! Yeah- that really happened! And I had all of my kids with me, too. Or like what happened to me at church last week. My husband taught the 14-15 year old girls Sunday school class (just filling in while they called a new teacher). So, the new teacher walked in and we went around the room introducing the girls to the new teacher. Then the teacher turned to me and said, "And your name is?" I said, "Um, I'm his wife. I have a daughter almost old enough to be in this class!" She said, "Oh my gosh! I thought you were one of my girls in here!" Yup! Or how about the time I took Natalie to school late one day and I had to go into her school to sign her in. The lady gave her a pass and then asked me what my name was so she could give me my late pass, too. EMBARRASSING!!! I know someday I will love looking half my age but for now it sure does SUCK!
Anyway, today was a great day! I am blessed to be alive. I am blessed to have a great husband and four wonderful, healthy kids! I am blessed to have the most amazing parents in the entire world and to have an incredible sister. I am blessed to have great friends. I have more than my birthday to celebrate! I have all these things that I find I take for granted sometimes. Thank you all for making my life worth living!

Hey Melissa, I really did mean to send you a birthday e-mail yesterday. :( Sorry! I'm glad you had a good day. And yes, you will like looking younger than you are some day. I remember that I hated it when I was ready to get married, and people thought I was 12! But last week a guy in my computer class guessed my age as 35! That made my day!!!
You are fabulous, birthday girl!!! Want to hear one of my fav weight loss tricks? sub a bowl of your fav cereal for your worst meal of the day.Special K says to eat their cereal, but i like fruity pebbles personally. Think of the calories you save! hee hee
I was thinking of you the other day and remembering how your parents (and me for a while) used to call you Bedoysdin. I'm sure the spelling is wrong, but do you remember that? Funny. Yes, you do look young, but like my Mom said, you'll love it someday. I'm glad I don't look my age because I turn the dreaded 40 this year!! I'm glad you had a great day. Good luck with your goals.
