Thanksgiving

I had the best Thanksgiving this year. My mom, dad, sister and nephews came to my house. It was our first Thanksgiving together since before we were married (which was over 12 years ago)! It was so much fun to have all that company stay at my house. It was so fun to watch my nephews play with my kids. I know how strong a bond can be between cousins so that was so awesome to watch their relationships bloom. I loved celebrating the day of thanksgiving with them because everyone who was here that day are the people I am the most thankful for in my life. The day after Thanksgiving was my dad's birthday. It was the 47th anniversary of his 18th birthday~ hee hee! We went to a movie and saw "Hugo"- which was SUCH an amazing movie!! I bought him his very own "Chunky Monkey" ice cream and put a candle in it. My parents rented a hotel room for a few nights with some free points that they earned, so later that night we went to the hotel and took the kids swimming. While they were here we went to "Big Jud's"- which is a burger joint in Boise that the guy from "Man vs. Food" came to and Christina was determined to check it out. It was delicious. We also did a lot of shopping and laughing and watching movies. It was so much fun. It was sad to see my sister and nephews leave. We had so much fun with them. It was also hard for me to see my dad leave. He is so much fun to be with. But when my mom left yesterday, I cried pretty much non-stop from 6 am to 1 pm. Everywhere I looked reminded me of her somehow. The bathroom smelled like her hairspray. Her cup was still by the sink. The Christmas decorations she helped put up reminded me of her being here and when she leaves things seem to be quieter and lonelier. Sometimes I have a really hard time when she goes and this was the worst of them. I wish, more than anything, that we lived closer. I realize how fortunate I am to be able to see her as often as I do considering she lives across the country from me but it is so hard to not have her with me all of the time. There are so many people who have their moms live near them and complain about how their mom stopped by again, unannounced or whatever. I have such a hard time hearing this. I would give anything to be able to have my mom just drop by. Anything! I have never had my mommy right around the corner from me in all of my 12 years of marriage. I know she's just a phone call away but it's not the same as having her here to hug and talk to. I have the best mom in the world. I don't really know how I would ever, EVER live without her! She is my everything! (and my kid are, too). Anyway, I just wanted to update you all on how great my Thanksgiving was (and to tell everyone to not take living near your moms for granted). Hope you all had a great holiday as well.
